Alex Wilkinson

Senior Manager of Strategic Planning, Professional Services

Prior to NPower NY, Alex Wilkinson was a Professor of Practice in the i-School at Syracuse University, teaching IT planning, information privacy, and network management.

For 21 years, Alex worked at AT&T and Bell Laboratories, in a variety of technical and management positions, ranging from software engineering and service innovation to network operations and product management. As a software engineer, he was the technical manager for projects that integrated voice communications, data networking, and real-time data-intensive solutions for AT&T's large business and government clients. As a director of network operations centers, he managed 7x24 teams of technicians at help desks and data centers that supported thousands of voice ports and hundreds of servers nationwide. As a product manager, he was responsible for capital budgets and operations planning for the introduction of innovative services that blended AT&T's leading-edge voice recognition technology with clientsâ€TM high-performance database systems.

In other realms, Alex loves opera, avoids singing it, and exercises fanatically (on a rowing machine, going nowhere in a great hurry).

Alex came to NPower NY after volunteering for NPower and the Taproot Foundation. He holds 2 software patents, a PhD in experimental and mathematical psychology from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota.
