In the beginning of 2022, Karla found herself unemployed and a single first-time mom to a one-month-old. She was forced to leave the university she was attending without yet obtaining a degree. Karla started working at a fast food chain to provide for herself and her family but constantly was searching for better employment opportunities to support her son.. During her search, she came across the NPower program. Although she had her doubts about juggling the coursework and a part-time job all while caring for her son. Despite her doubts, she applied as she was confident that she would be able to access better employment opportunities upon completion. Karla attributes the program to arming her not only with new technical skills, but also gaining access to a wonderful network of professionals that have helped me jumpstart a career in tech.

Her instructors noted that Karla was a joy to have in the class and that she took the necessary steps to succeed in the program and was always on time and prepared to learn. She earned both a Google IT Support Certificate and CompTIA ITF+ certification and launched her tech career with an apprenticeship  as a Logistician for CyberCore Technologies and advanced as a HelpDesk Provisioning Associate at 2U significantly increasing her salary.
